MEC announces return of 3182 scholarships by CAPES

Students and post-graduate researchers will receive 3,182 CAPES grants. The announcement was made this Wednesday, 11, by Abraham Weintraub, Minister of Education, and Anderson Correia, president of CAPES. The Ministry of Education articulated the release of the budget with the Ministry of Economy and the Civil House and ensured more study opportunities in 2019.

The scholarships released are for grades 5, 6 and 7 (1,068, 1,052 and 1,062 units, respectively), the highest in the CAPES evaluation. “Nothing fairer than to give the scholarships for the programs that have good grades and will reverberate to society,” Weintraub said.

It was also announced that CAPES’ budget for 2020 will grow by R$600 million. The total amount rose from R$2.45 billion to R$3.05 billion.

Correia also said the measure ensures the continuity of graduate programs in all regions of the country. He also said other negotiations are being made to expand next year’s budget. “It is a joint effort of the federal government and parliamentarians.

The PPGEP-UFPE is evaluated with grade 7 in CAPES, which will guarantee the maintenance of the Program scholarships.
