PPGEP promoted the lecture “WINGS: Weighted Influence Non-linear Gauge System”, given by Professor Jerzy Michnik

The Postraduate Program in Production Engineering (PPGEP) received Professor Jerzy Michnik. The visitation was funded by the National Science Center / Poland grant DEC-2013/09 / B / HS4 / 01102.

The PPGEP promoted the lecture entitled “WINGS: Weighted Influence Non-linear Gauge System”,  given by Professor Jerzy Michnik on Tuesday, September 12, at 2.30 pm in the Department of Production Engineering.

“WINGS: Weighted Influence Non-linear Gauge System”

The WINGS method has been derived from DEMATEL and can be widely used as a structural model for the analysis of intertwined factors and causal relations between them. Its novelty comes from an idea of including in one mathematical mechanism both strength (importance) and influence of the system components. In particular, WINGS can be applied to the MCDA method for evaluating alternatives when interrelations between criteria can not be neglected. For the problem with independent criteria, WINGS reproduces the additive aggregation of preferences, the classical method in MCDA. ”

Prof. Jerzy Michnik holds Dr Hab. (habilitation), MSc in Physics and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Economics in Katowice, where he serves as a professor in the Department of Operational Research. His current major research interests include Systems Thinking, decision analysis, and applications for complex problem solving, strategic management, and innovation management. Prof. Michnik is the author of several articles published in international journals and books, and is part of the editorial board of journals, such as Decision Support Systems, International Journal of Applied Management Science and Journal of Economics and Management.
