Department of Production Engineering of UFPE inaugurates the Laboratory Neuroscience for Information and Decision (NSID)

On 07/12/2018, at 11am, the Department of Production Engineering of UFPE inaugurated the laboratory NeuroScience for Information and Decision (NSID). The laboratory is dedicated to the development of studies and research from an interdisciplinary perspective, encompassing several areas of knowledge, such as: management engineering, economics, marketing, psychology, to the development of information systems and decision-making and negotiation. The NSID proposal focuses on disseminating the multidisciplinarity that intercedes these and other areas of knowledge and brings great contribution and applicability in the studies of psychophysiological and behavioral aspects, seeking to respond to new scientific questions related to individual or group decision making and negotiation.

Linked to INCT-INSID (National Institute of Information Systems and Decision), an interinstitutional scientific cooperation network of national and international character, the NSID is coordinated by Prof. Adiel T. de Almeida and vice-coordinated by Professor Danielle C. Morais, with resources from FINEP (CT-INFRA Project) and the Department of Production Engineering, whose value was in the order of R $ 1,100,000.00, also having approved another FINEP resource in the amount of R $ 900,000.00, which will be used to acquire new equipment.

The laboratory is located on the 5th floor of the Administrative Block of the Center for Technology and Geosciences, with its structure inspected and approved by an on-site visit by FINEP, and is aimed at academics, students and researchers. Currently, the NSID counts on students of scientific initiation, masters, doctoral students and postdoctoral students, as well as professors and researchers, all of them developing research in their areas of decision support, modeling of preferences and behavior of the decision maker with the support of methods and tools of neurosciences. In addition to the academic public, society in general also plays an important role for the NSID as supporters and beneficiaries of the research results of the laboratory, since comes from society the main participants in NSID’s experimental procedures.
