12th MCDA/M Summer School 2016 takes place from July 18th to 29th, in Recife/Brazil

The MCDA/M (Multipe Criteria Decision Aid (MCDA) and Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) Summer School takes place for the first time in Latin America in Recife/Brazil from July 18th to 29th, 2016. The School is a joint event of the International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making and the EURO Working Group on Multicriteria Decision Aiding. The choice for Recife was due to the high visibility that the team of the Center for Decision Systems and Information Development (CDSID), a research group registered at the CNPQ, composed of professors of the Department of Management Engineering of UFPE, also has in the international scenario.

The aim of the school is to give to doctoral students/young researchers a state-of-the-art presentation of multiple criteria methods, applications and software. Multipe Criteria Decision Aid (MCDA) and Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) are a rapidly evolving domain which scientific developments are altogether based on fundamental sciences as mathematics, computer science, operation research, engineering, etc. and on social sciences and management science as sociology, management, political sciences. Interdisciplinarity needs a special involvement and will to insure full collaboration. The field of application is continuously expanding and social demands are numerous. With the purpose of promoting the diffusion of the potentialities of multicriteria models as valuable supporting instruments in decision-making, a group of well known North American and European scientists decided to promote, gradually, the International Summer School on MCDA/M: Methods, Applications and Software.

To allow greater involvement of the community interested in the subject, CDSID is promoting SIDS 2016 (Seminar of Information and Decision Systems), a side event in which researchers invited to the MCDA/M Summer School will give lectures, open to the general public. SIDS 2016 will take place from July 20 to 26 in auditorium 3 of the UFPE Central Library, in order to meet the demand of the region and the country.
